European Release
[edit]Do we have a confirmed European release date yet? Annonymous user 84.58.153.149 added 27th October as the date, though Amazon.co.uk and Play.com UK give a date of 7th October. SonicLover July 2, 2005 18:23 (UTC)
Pokémon Emerald font
[edit]It says that "The font originally used in FireRed and LeafGreen has been implemented in this game." This is not true. I have three images proving this:
The Emerald font is obviously a smaller version of the font that was used in Ruby/Sapphire. It's nowhere near the font used in Fire Red/Leaf Green. Jetro 15:11, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I got that bit about the font from the GameFAQs boards, so I thought it was true (since I played Emerald at the store).
Can you breed pokemon in this game, like Ninetails and Mightyena?
Of course.204.147.20.1 (talk) 22:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
US Release
[edit]The US release date is May 1st. Didn't it get delayed? If so, when was it released? Sonic Mew | talk to me 21:09, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- I remember the game coming out that day, and we Canadians often get stuff at the same time as the US. 64.231.145.199 20:39, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, it came out on May 1st. It wasn't delayed. "151.200.178.97 01:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)"
Creating Pokemon?
[edit]There is a rumor on www.gamefaqs.com that you can create pokemon in Pokemon emerald. This rumor is in the message boards. Unfortunately I only found part two. If anyone could tell me if they found the first part that would be great!
- You cannot create your own Pokemon. Gamefaqs make up a lot of things. --XenoNeon (converse) 09:03, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you XenoNeon! I'll just stick to pokemon eggs!
Hoenn?
[edit]It says it features Kanto and Johto Pokemon, but it's based on Ruby and Sapphire, so shouldn't it contain Hoenn Pokemon? SilentGuy 13:45, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
After you beat the Elite Four, you get the National Dex. That allows you to record non-Hoenn pokemon and capture them in a new area in the Safari Zone and the Battle Frontier.
You also get a Johto starter for completing the Hoenn pokedex--Young XenoNeon (converse) 18:50, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
All the following games: Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, and FireRed all have all of the Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn pokemon from the very beginning, though with with Ruby and Saphire you may have never noticed that anything other than Hoenn pokemon were on it, nor with LeafGreen and FireRed with Kanto pokemon, but they were all there from the very start.
Someone fooling around?
[edit]===Pokémon Additions===
- A new exclusive Deoxys form can never be obtained: Speed. Deoxys must never be obtained through the Aurora Ticket. Deoxys are obtainable by the "Pokémon Rocks America" event and at the Deoxys Hunt event that took place at VUE cinemas in October 2005 in the UK.
- One can obtain the same tickets from FireRed and LeafGreen for acquiring Deoxys, Ho-oh, and Lugia. In addition, a new map is used for acquiring Mew at a place called Faraway Island. As usual, the tickets are only obtainable at a Nintendo event or by jumping.
Is it just me, or does this make no sense? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.89.92.177 (talk • contribs) .
- Just you... mostly. It isn’t clearly written, but it does make sense to someone who understands the context. Except “or by jumping”. That part does make absolutely no sense. Unless the person meant the use of a cheat device? -- WikidSmaht (talk)
It isn't like The Poke'mon Silver/Gold/Crystal Versions!
i got myself a houndoom from the safari zone I think he means the part that says, "the tickets are only obtainable at a Nintendo event or by jumping." Crowstarcaws 20:28, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Story
[edit]OK, I wrote the story, does everyone think its ok? Dee man45 17:04, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- To be brutally honest... It’s a good outline, but it’s not really great prose. -- WikidSmaht (talk) 19:45, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thats what I was going for, at least so far, till I get enough feedback to make it better.
what to get
[edit]This, Ruby or Sapphire? whats the best 1
- Well, it depends on your personal preference. Do you like Electric teams, then Sapphire will be a breeze, and vice versa. But Emerald contains a whole load of 'new' things that make it good; most notably the Battle Frontier. You need them all if you want to capture every single Pokémon and fill the Pokédex, though. If you are first time; Play Ruby/Sapphire first depending on preference and then get Emerald when you have some experience, as many people find it harder and suprisingly more difficult.--XenoNeon (converse) 10:25, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers, im a RBGS vet so I got Emerald and I'm **loving** it!! :) :D Cheers for your advice man.
If you want the most stable one with the most features and allows you to catch Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayuaza in emerald (and the cloning glitch in emerald), etc. then Emerald is for you!!!:) That's what I have. 172.162.150.53 03:56, 5 August 2007 (UTC) Don't confuse me with the unsigned post please.
Um... Aren't Harder and More difficult the exact same thing, Xeno?204.147.20.1 (talk) 22:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Box Art
[edit]Just to mention, the box art dispayed is an older version. The newer version is brighter and includes more colour. Unfortunatly I am incapable of implamenting the change myself. --Myuu 19:11, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've updated the box art. See it for yourself; I believe it is the one you are talking about. -- A. Exeunt 11:21, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
External links
[edit]Here is the link to Infoseek Japan's Emerald page. Should we put this under the External links section, since Pokémon Japan's page is added as well? -- A. Exeunt 09:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh, forget it and what the heck. I've added it in. If anyone wants to remove it from the list, please do so. The only reason I added it in was because of the (very nice) wallpaper they have over there, as well as the large pictures of Brendan, May, the Hoenn starter Pokémon, Scott, Deoxys and Rayquaza. -- A. Exeunt 13:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- The Pokémon Collaborative includes all these external links in a single '''{{Pokerefs}}''' template. Do not flood this article with unrequired fansites as I think we currently have enough.--XenoNeon (converse) 16:17, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- {{pokerefs}} is formatted for use in species articles only, and is not intended as a permanent template anyway. It was implemented when most of the species articles were lacking references, and the ultimate goal is to subst it into all species articles with appropriate parameters. -- WikidSmaht (talk) 22:15, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Infoseek is no fansite, XenoNeon. -- A. Exeunt 05:19, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Cloning Glitch
[edit]Is someone going to post the cloning glitch, or should I do it? Hello2112 15:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Never mind. Someone added it. Hello2112 17:33, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Now then, who removed it? Hello2112 16:09, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- That information does not fit Wikipedia. We are not a gaming guide, see WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. -- ReyBrujo 05:02, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Then remove the Pomeg Berry Glitch. Hello2112 21:21, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Emphasis on new features?
[edit]This article seems to have more emphasis on new features (and the plot needs a bit of a cleanup) rather than the actual content of the game. Also, "Articles on computer and video games should give an encyclopedia overview of what the game is about", and featured articles like The Wind Waker don't place so much focus and lists on new features. Any comments on how this can be improved? - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 11:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
This article or section is a candidate to be moved to a gaming wiki.
[edit]The section subject for removal doesn't discuss how to play the game, it includes difference from the Sapphire and Ruby versions to the later released Emerald version. The section should therefore be kept. Enigmatic timbre0x 21:50, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Problem, it excessively lists ALL the new features as a feature collection for unregistered or inexperienced editors to continuously add to. It urgently needs to be prosified. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 21:56, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Reactions with the games
[edit]- Yes, I know that this game can trade/battle with Ruby/Sapphire/FireRed/LeafGreen. I have two questions, though.
- 1. Can fourth-generation Pokémon be transferred to Emerald?
- 2. Can this game be linked up to the upcoming Pokémon Battle Revolution?
- Thank you! 66.174.93.101 04:02, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- 1. Nope. The 4th-gen Pokémon aren't in the game's coding. Not to mention that trading to D/P is a one-way process anyway.
- 2. We don't know yet. A preview video used the characters from FR/LG so it might be possible but nothing is confirmed. --Sonic Mew 20:43, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- 1. Already answered.
- 2. No. I'm pretty sure you'll have to transfer them to D/P and then connect D/P with PBR. Sincerely, Thrashmeister {U|T|C} 06:05, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
I was wondering about this line from this revision:
The legendary Pokémon Rayquaza can now be obtained at the top of the Sky Pillar after you defeat the Elite Four.
...and this line from this revision:

Can Rayquaza be caught before, after, or both? -- A. Exeunt 05:49, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Rayquaza can be caught before the Elite Four. As well as after. After you go and wake it up you can capture it any time afterwards. Gran2 16:59, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes...you may capture it before you take on the elite4, but if you fail in that (i.e. you make him faint) you have another oppourtunity after you trounce the elite4.----Sage1989
Major Glitch

This article has been requested for protection
[edit]I have placed a semi-protection request on WP:RFP due to, in my opinion, constant vandalism. I feel that the magnitude of problems with vandalism on this article warrants so. -- Altiris Exeunt 05:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- The request was denied, but at least I know how much vandalism is too much vandalism now. -- Altiris Exeunt 06:04, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Rumor or not?
[edit]Like Pokémon Cystral Version, I heard rumors that Emerald has all of the Pokémon from Ruby, and Sapphire, true?--66.233.13.77 16:31, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- No. Emerald has some exclusions. The most notable ones that I can think of are Zangoose, Surskit, and Lunatone. hbdragon88 03:50, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Wrong! Surskrit can be found on Emerald, as can both Seedot and Lotad.204.147.20.1 (talk) 22:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Someone thought this was funny...
[edit]Some idiot thought it was funny to stupify, vandalise, and make fun of Shigeru Myamoto's name into Shigeki Morimoto in here And Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen articles. Someone fix this please. cant remember how his last name is spelled :( 172.162.150.53 04:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
No worries, someone has done it. -- Altiris Exeunt 12:50, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Do we really need more sources?
[edit]I'm wondering if the tag at the top of the article, calling for the inclusion of more sources, is needed. As far as I can see, there doesn't appear to be anything else that needs sources for verification. -- Altiris Exeunt 04:02, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- This could really use a reception section and a development section. Reception is easy, sourcing some dev information is going to be hard though. Also would be ncie to have some sources for the changes section as well. hbdragon88 05:44, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Reception, eh? I've got an hour; I'll work on it. -- Altiris Exeunt 05:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Zica Superchargers, Zica Laser, BattleShip-class Firebomb, SDF Main Gun and Companion Ships Gerund and Gerund have been activated. Please make any necessary changes or whatnot. -- Altiris Exeunt 07:28, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yikes, Serebii, PsyPokes, etc. aren't WP:RS. hbdragon88 07:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- ...uh, no? Why not? -- Altiris Exeunt 08:09, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I thought they were reliable enough as per the first paragraph of the first section of WP:RS. Aren't they reliable as sources for Pokémon-centric information? -- Altiris Exeunt 08:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- They are self-published sources and do not meet the criteria set out in that guideline. hbdragon88 22:27, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah well. I'll remove them then. -- Altiris Exeunt 11:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Pkmn.jpg
[edit]Image:Pkmn.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge discussion
[edit]I just want to make one point: How much of this article is unique to Emerald? That is, how much of it isn't almost the same as the content from the Ruby and Sapphire page? It's notable enough, sure, but is there a necessity to split them? - A Link to the Past (talk) 03:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, just look at the game. It may look like Ruby and Sapphire, but it also has a substantial amount of changes for it to exist as a separate article. Sprites redone, additions such as the Battle Frontier, Trainer Hill, the ability to capture Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, change of gym leaders, change of Elite Four roster...even for a game this modern, that really is quite a lot of changes, and I think it's enough for Emerald to exist as a seperate article. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 07:09, 30 April 2008 (UTC)- Oh no. Really? Let me check... -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 07:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- There seems to be enough differences in content to me... -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 07:16, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- It may be true that there was a lot of content added, but how much can we discuss this new content? If we discuss it too much, the article becomes far too crufty. However, if you discuss it any less, the article becomes too short. As it stands, almost all of the Plot section is redundant to RuSa's, for instance. Now, I am aware of the game's notability, but I still must ask if there's a necessity for the articles to be split. Not all the changes need to be mentioned, after all. - A Link to the Past (talk) 16:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- There seems to be enough differences in content to me... -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 07:16, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Support No reason to separate the three products. They're the same game with a few variations that should be explained in the same article. Kariteh (talk) 17:46, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- And let it be known that I'm not trying to destroy anything anyone made; I am totally open to any suggestions on how to merge, what to merge, etc. The merge I made was more of a beta, which I would hope people would fix up over time. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:51, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You have the potential expansion of the Battle Frontier in-depth; I dunno how well the official Prima and NP guides covered that, though. R/S is considered to be the same game, released at the same time and with minute variations in the amount of Pokemon catchable. And sites treat it like so; R/S were appraised the same, but for Emerald they assessed it separately, which can be turned into a good reception section. There was a similar proposal to merge Yellow into R/B, which didn't garner enough support.
To be honest, I'm simply a bit miffed at seeing my work at Super Mario Advance 4 nearly destroyed without any notification whatsoever, which is why I object here without so much of a discussion. hbdragon88 (talk) 21:34, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- But I must reiterate, is it a necessary split? I mean, looking at the RuSa page with Emerald, it's not even that big with it. Splitting Emerald off though just makes it very difficult to ever have the Emerald article featured, and somewhat difficult for Ruby and Sapphire. And besides, like I said, the Plot section is just RuSa's with Emerald's changes included. - A Link to the Past (talk) 21:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Right now all the usual suspects are here. Given that you also redirected Crystal and Yellow, I think this merits a wider discussion on WT:CVG on whether remakes/third iterations should be split or not. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not arguing remakes don't deserve articles, or that this one doesn't deserve one, but only one question exists: what content is unique to this article? - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Anyway, I made an example that removed trivial content and redundant content: User:A Link to the Past/Pokémon Emerald. Honestly, there were major changes in Emerald, but there were only a small handful of them. A plot change, Battle Frontier, and PokéNav. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:17, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Right now all the usual suspects are here. Given that you also redirected Crystal and Yellow, I think this merits a wider discussion on WT:CVG on whether remakes/third iterations should be split or not. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- The addition of Battle Frontier should be more than enough to establish its difference with the other two games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talk • contribs) 04:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's not about the quality of the content added, it's how much of the content added NEEDS to be mentioned. Just because it's a good feature does not mean it sets the game apart enough. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:00, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
